In December 2010, the independent gallery Gitte Bohr opened in Neukölln, Berlin. Beyond the Blue Chip galleries in the city centre, a group of artists, art theorists and curators are trying to develop a program, which deals with content that occasionally have a hard time entering the commercial mainstream galleries. Gitte Bohr will organise solo- and group exhibitions, talks, discussions, screenings, etc. The focus is on positions, which examine to immediate political and social questions, or, which relate to the of avant-garde art’s historical positioning as being opposed to consensual bourgeois culture.
